advertising and communications strategy which began with newspaper, television and radio public

Hong Kong
- Welch's Regional Business Manager organized a
direct mail program that delivered medical research information and findings about the health
benefits of purple grape juice direct to health care providers at over
2000 medical clinics
- Active promotions included posters, brochures, television
commercials - even a tag for supermarket shelves - all reinforcing our healthy message

Japan
- Television commercial outlining the outstanding taste and health benefits of Welch's Purple (Concord) Grape Juice all year round, every year
- Our partner, Calpis Company of Japan, educates consumers on the health benefits of drinking Purple Grape Juice with briefing kits and in-store sampling/demonstrations, press releases and print publicity from time-to-time. This effort will help enhance the consumer’s health benefit awareness of Welch’s 100% Purple Grape Juice in Japan
- A
leading Japanese TV station (NTV) picked up the Health & Nutrition
benefits of Welch's Purple Grape Juice in their one-hour national
program in 1999 by referring to the outcome of research studies
undertaken by Dr. Folts that were introduced in the Journal of American
College of Cardiology. These TV programs helped trigger a grape juice boom in
1999, which increased Welch's Purple Grape Juice sales in 1999 by 95% over
the previous year
Puerto Rico
- Welch's was a premier sponsor at a cardiologist's convention
- The Regional Business Manager organized a direct mail
program delivering medical research news to more than 3,500 cardiologists
and nutritionists
- Welch's maintained an active presence at events ranging
from Scooter Days to La Maze Classes
